Our purpose
Why Remember
Exists
Some feelings don't demand resolution. They only need a moment of honest recognition — a quiet place to be seen.
Acknowledgment, not resolution
We are often told to move on — to process, to resolve, to put things behind us. But some of what we carry doesn't need to be resolved. A person who mattered to you still matters. A place that shaped you still echoes. A moment that changed everything still lives somewhere inside you.
Remember was built on a simple belief: acknowledging something is not the same as being stuck in it. You can hold a memory gently, give it a name, and then return to the rest of your day — lighter for having let it surface rather than pushing it back down.
There is a difference between suppression and peace. Suppression keeps things buried. Peace allows them to exist without controlling you.
Remember is not here to fix you, guide you, or measure your progress. It is here to offer a still, unhurried space — a lantern held gently in the dark — where what you feel is simply allowed to be true.
Private by design
Everything you record in Remember stays on your own device. There is no account to create, no server receiving your words, and no database holding your memories. When you write something here, it is written only to your browser's local storage — a private space on your own computer or phone that only you can access.
We made this choice deliberately. Reflections this personal shouldn't need to travel anywhere. They shouldn't be encrypted and stored on a distant server you'll never see. They belong to you, in every meaningful sense.
-
Stays on your device
Your memories are stored in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server.
-
No account required
There is no sign-up, no login, no email address. You begin immediately.
-
You control deletion
Delete a single memory or everything at once. Gone means gone — there is no recovery.
-
Exportable
You can export your data as JSON at any time. Your memories belong to you.
The consequence of this design is also its honesty: if you clear your browser data, your memories are cleared too. We recommend exporting occasionally if permanence matters to you.
What Remember is not
Clarity about what something is often comes from being honest about what it isn't.
-
Not therapy
Remember does not offer guidance, analysis, or professional support. If you are struggling, please reach out to a qualified mental-health professional. This tool is a quiet complement to life, not a substitute for care.
-
Not social media
Nothing you write here is visible to anyone else. There are no profiles, no feeds, no followers, no likes. Remember is entirely and deliberately private.
-
Not a journal
A journal invites long narrative entries written over time. Remember asks only for a name, a feeling, and an optional brief note — then lets you go. It is lighter than a journal, and purposefully so.
-
Not a productivity tool
There are no tasks, no reminders, no streaks, no goals. Remember does not want your attention every day. It is here when you need it, and quiet when you don't.
