Everything you might want to know about Remember — how it works, where your data lives, and what it is and isn't designed to do.
Remember is a quiet, private web tool for acknowledging the people, places, pets, and moments that still cross your mind. It gives you a calm space to name what you feel — a mood, a subject, and an optional brief note — and then let it go. There are no accounts, no social features, and no servers receiving your words.
You open the Journal page, choose what you are thinking about — a person, a place, a pet, a moment, a period of life, or something else — give it a name, select how you feel about it, and optionally add a short note. That acknowledgment is saved privately in your browser. You can view, edit, or delete your memories at any time from the History page.
Yes, completely. Everything you write in Remember stays on your own device. Nothing is transmitted to any server, stored in any database, or shared with any third party. Remember has no backend that receives your reflections. Your words belong to you alone.
Your memories are stored in your browser's localStorage — a private area of storage built into every modern web browser, accessible only by you on your device. Different browsers and different devices each have their own separate localStorage, so memories saved in Chrome on your laptop will not appear in Safari on your phone.
Yes. You can delete individual memories from the History page, or remove everything at once from the Manage Data page. Deletion is permanent — there is no recovery, no backup on a server, and no undo. We believe that when you choose to let something go, it should truly be gone.
Yes. There is no account to create, no email address required, and no login of any kind. You open Remember and begin immediately. This is intentional — we believe a space for private reflection should not require you to hand over personal information just to enter it.
No. Remember is a private reflection tool, not a therapeutic service. It does not offer guidance, analysis, diagnoses, or professional support of any kind. If you are struggling with grief, loss, or your mental health, please reach out to a qualified mental-health professional. Remember is a quiet complement to daily life, not a substitute for care.
Your memories persist across browser sessions. localStorage is not the same as a browser session — it survives when you close and reopen your browser. Your memories will still be there the next time you visit Remember on the same device and browser. The only exception is if you clear your browser's site data or localStorage manually, or use Remember in a private or incognito window, which clears data when the session ends.
Yes. From the History page you can export all your memories as a JSON file, which you can save to your computer. This is useful if you want a personal backup or if you are switching devices. Remember does not automatically back up your data anywhere — the export is always under your control.
You can acknowledge a person — someone you miss, love, or feel grateful for. A pet who is gone or far away. A place that shaped you. A period of your life that has passed. A specific moment that stays with you. Or simply something else that doesn't fit a category. Remember does not judge what crosses your mind. If it matters to you, it is worth acknowledging.
